The Designer Behind The Shoe

Walter Steiger

Walter Steiger was employed by Mary Quant as a designer in the 1960's. He moved to Paris in 1973 and was commissioned by Chanel, Nina Ricci, Chloe and other leading fashion houses. In 1974 he opened his first boutique in Paris and soon afterwards he was collaborating with designers like Karl Lagerfield and Claude Montana. His sons joined the company and they opened 'Maison Steige Bottier' on the Avenue Matignon in Paris. His shoes are created with a synthesis of luxury, superb craftsmanship

and exclusivity, and his early designs have become vintage collectables.

 

Errol Arendz

Errol Arendz was well-known for his beautiful fashion designs, some of his clients include Priscilla Presley, Barbara Barnard, Joan Collins, Sharon Stone and many more well known personalities. He started designing shoes in 2005.

 

Charles Jourdan

In Paris in 1919 the firm of Charles Jourdan was opened and in the 1930's it was the first manufacturer to sell shoes by advertising. The company was licensed to Christian Dior and developed into a high-end ready-to-wear company. The good news is that the French luxury footwear label has opened a store in the same square where a Charles Jourdan store was opened in 1957. The brand is entrenched in the imagination of shoe lovers for the perfect arch of its elegant high-heeled shoes. Imelda Marcos was the First Lady of the Philippines from 1965 to 1986 and had a collection of more than a 1 000 pairs of shoes, many were Charles Jourdan numbers

Roberto Botella

Francois Villon

Between the 60's and 70's, Francois Villon De Benvenista was a famous French shoemaker he was a pupil of André Perugia and Paul Poiret in Paris. He was adored by the the most important French designers and American divas. The whole production of his shoes was made in Italy. A number of Francois Villon shoes that have been donated to The Metropolitan Museum in New York City.
